Save Pässi project
The aim of this project is to restore and present Finland’s first and oldest narrow-gauge steam locomotive nicknamed Pikku-Pässi. With the completion of this project, a new learning environment will be created, consisting of a depot and a railway for the locomotive. Currently, the locomotive is being restored to working order at a workshop in Jokioinen. It will return to Fiskars in 2026.
In connection with the locomotive, we are currently creating an experience and learning environment consisting of a new engine shed, a short railway track, and various types of digital content. The engine shed, built in a traditional style, was built next to the former knife factory in Fiskars in 2025. The digital learning environment will include articles about the Pikku-Pässi locomotive and the narrow-gauge railway, an animation showing how a steam engine works, a 180-degree video production where you can navigate along the railway track from Fiskars to Skuru harbor, and a video telling the story of the locomotive’s renovation. Our goal is to open the depot to visitors in the summer of 2026. The digital content of the learning environment will be published as it becomes ready.
