On Sunday, June 14th at 11 a.m., the museum’s summer season opens with the Lively at Hammarbacken & Opening of the Locomotive Shed event. During the day, the ironworks villagers will be busy with their tasks: in the Bakery where flatbread is baked, and in the Slaggbuilding’s small shop, where the shop assistants are ready to serve customers with old-fashioned sweets. At Café Hammarbacken, visitors can enjoy freshly baked buns together with locally roasted coffee.
The highlight of the day is the new locomotive shed, which will be inaugurated from 1–3 p.m. to the sound of the Brass Band Pohjan puhallinorkesteri. In the shed, visitors can see Finland’s oldest narrow-gauge steam locomotive, Fiskars Pikku-Pässi, in its newly restored appearance, and explore digital content presenting the locomotive and the history of the Fiskars railway. Train and track workers will also be serving train inspired bewerages and selling unique Lillbässen products.
Free admission! Welcome!
