Many off the museum events have free admission. Check out our events here.

Accessability at the Museum

Find out below how to make the most of your visit to Fiskars Museum.  We welcome everyone to the museum regardless of gender, age, ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation or disability. We regret that the Museum area is not available for disabled visitors, though we hope to change this is the near future. As such, our museum buildings are not accessible by wheelchair. The rooms are small, and the thresholds and stairs in the buildings are an obstacle for the wheelchair. You may require the help of an assistant. Contact us in advance and please let our staff know of your concerns. Our staff will be happy to assist you to ensure you the best possible museum experience. Within the framework of “Save the Pässi”-project, the oldest steam locomotive in Finland, we are actually working on improving the accessibility of cultural heritage and the museum area. Personal assistants are welcome to the Museum free of charge. Our guides will also be happy to help you if necessary!

Information Desk and Ticket Sales

The information desk and ticket sales are in the main building of the museum at Peltorivi 13. There are stairs to the entrance.

Accessibility for the Visually Impaired

The Museum is catering also for the visually impaired visitors, as well as for people with special needs. Some of our exhibitions and museum items can be experienced through a sense of touch, sound or smell. However, it is good to be aware of that the museum buildings have thresholds and stairs, and that some spaces have poor lighting.

Guide Dogs

The Museum allows access to guide dogs and their owners.

Digital Guides

Digital presentations of the Museum and artifacts are available on our website at the Digital Museum page.

Guided Tours and Workshops for Special Need Groups

We are happy to arrange tailor-made tours as well as experiential workshops for groups with special needs. Please contact us in advance!

Parking Space and Bus Stop

Parking lots are located near the museum area at Peltorivi 26. From the parking lot, there is a 50-meter ascent to the main building of the museum on the hill. Ticket sales are in the main building. If necessary, you can drive your car or the charter vehicle closer to the main entrance building of the Museum. However, please note that parking space at the hillside car park is limited and there is no separate space for disabled or charter vehicles. The nearest bus stop is in the Fiskars Market Square, about 600 meters from the Museum.

Café Hammarbacken

Café Hammarbacken is in a building called Slaggbyggnaden at Peltorivi 26. When you arrive at the café, walk up a small gravel-based hill. The door has a threshold. Seating is also available in the Museum’s garden, and on a flat lawn area near the car park. Our staff will assist you if needed!

Toilets

The customers’ toilets are in the main building of the Museum (second floor), Peltorivi 13. There is also a public toilet with a baby-changing facility in Café Hammarbacken, Peltorivi 26.  Unfortunately, these toilets are not accessable by wheel chair. Free toilets are also available in the Fiskars market area.

Good to know for groups

Groups are welcomed to the museum! To make the guided tour as successful as possible, we have limited the group size to a maximum of 20 people. For larger groups, we recommend that the group is divided, and the ensuing tour is conducted in smaller detachments. The guidance fee depends on the number of people in the groups.

Bookings and payment

Visits of groups must always be booked in advance through the Museum office at info (at) fiskarsmuseum.fi. Cancellations must be made the day before no later than 4 p.m. Non-refundable bookings will be charged in full.

On public holidays and outside normal opening hours, the guidance fee is minimum 105€ /group. The workshops have an additional fee of 7 €/person on weekday evenings and weekends.

A visit to the museum is paid either at the Museum Box Office (we prefer card payments) or by invoice. If you prefer an invoice, please indicate the billing address when the booking is done. The invoicing fee is 5 €.

School and Nursery Groups

A variety of activities are available in the Museum for school and nursery groups. Experiential Time Travels, interactive guided tours and functional workshops introduce the history of Fiskars Ironworks. To make the most of your visit to the Museum, please contact us in advance!

Please observe that the group leader is always responsible for the group for the entire duration of the visit. Before visiting, it might be a good idea to remind pupils not to touch the museum objects in the exhibitions. Time travel, workshops, and other activities use items from a different collection which may be touched. The teacher can also visit the Museum in advance, and we are happy to provide handouts.

Unfortunately, the pedagogical spaces in our Museum are not accessible for visitors with mobility difficulties. The buildings have, for example, stairs and thresholds. Also, the size of the facilities limits the number of participants in the groups. Time travel and workshops are subject to a fee, whereas the exhibitions of the museum are free for children under 18.

The Museum allows free access to the group instructor.
