Our long-standing goal to bring the narrow-gauge steam locomotive Pikku-Pässi and its history back to life is finally becoming a reality.
Starting in July, you can read articles on this site about Finland’s oldest preserved Pikku-Pässi and the history surrounding it. In spring 2026, we will publish more content in our digital learning environment, including a 180-degree video production. Through a street-level view, you’ll be able to explore the route of the railway line and discover more fascinating stories connected to the locomotive.
We are also working on a 3D visualization of Pikku-Pässi, allowing you to explore the locomotive in greater detail virtually – as well as a video documenting the restoration process.
The locomotive shed, currently under construction, will open to the public in summer 2026. Our goal is for visitors to see Pikku-Pässi restored to its original appearance, hear stories about the locomotive, and experience the scent of the railway and the sound of the steam whistle. It has been 73 years since the last time.
