The museum’s summer season kicks off festively with the Lively at Hammarbacken event on June 7th from 11 AM to 5 PM. Throughout the day, the gardener will introduce the new learning environment: Hammarbacken Museum Garden. The accompanying online exhibition offers insights into the ironworks historical gardens, circular economy practices, and sustainability. To mark the occasion, Karina Heerman will perform traditional Finland-Swedish herding songs from the archives in the garden. Visitors can also take part in workshops led by the ironworkers, including baking in the old bakery, a keyholder workshop, and willow flute crafting.
At the museum shop, you’ll find genuine charcoal made in Malmbacka’s traditional kilns, old-fashioned sweets, and at Café Hammarbacken, enjoy homemade cinnamon rolls with locally roasted coffee.
